Take that shot
An Exhibition by
Laura Martinez Da Silva
They say we take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.
For years, my lens has been a bridge between the world and my heart. My journey with photography started after leaving my country, Venezuela, and travelling through Spain and Portugal, before finally arriving in London. It was here in Walthamstow that I found the faces and stories that make this neighbourhood my home.
As I looked back at these frames, I discovered a deeper truth: the most important photos are not the most perfect ones; they are the ones that hold our love.
"Take That Shot" is a celebration of the present. The intimate corners of my family home, a goodbye to my beloved mom, to the portraits, selfies and places that chart my own growth, this exhibition is a map of the memories that have shaped me. It is a reminder that while time moves forward, a photograph allows us to hold on to the light and remember the “moments”
that stay with us forever.

Now, it’s your turn.
At the end of the gallery, you will find a small studio. It is a space for you to pause, to smile, and to document your own story. Whether you are with your children, a friend, or standing solo, I invite you to take that shot.
Because years from now, these are the moments you will look back on with love.

“Photography for me has become a way of life, a way to preserve memories that are often forgotten, but to which we can always return when our loved ones or our lives are no longer the same.”
